Spumoni Trattoria & Pizzeria is a comfortably bustling Italian restaurant tucked into the heart of Hermosa Beach, offering a slice of classic Italy with a casual West Coast vibe. The space feels cozy and a bit intimate, with warm wood accents and modest but tasteful décor that leans toward an understated elegance. It’s the kind of spot where locals gather for hearty dinners and casual weekend meals, often accompanied by live music on Fridays and Saturdays—think old-school Sinatra crooning that adds a nostalgic note to the atmosphere.

This restaurant is best suited for those looking to enjoy well-executed Italian classics with generous portions. The menu ranges from comforting pasta dishes like gnocchi Bolognese and spaghetti carbonara to tempting pizzas like Diavola and pepperoni. House specialties such as the broccoli rabe sausage pasta and Colorado lamb chops are frequent favorites among regulars, and the warm bread served alongside olive oil or tapenade sets a welcoming tone. Portions tend to be ample, making it a great choice for families or groups that want to share a variety of dishes without leaving hungry.

Service here feels personal and attentive without being overbearing, contributing to a relaxed experience where guests often feel like regulars—even if it’s their first time in. The happy hour offers a well-priced wine selection that pairs nicely with the rustic flavors, though the focus remains solidly on authentic, homemade pasta and classic sauces rather than a broad wine list.

Spumoni's dessert offerings, like tiramisu, ricotta pistachio cake, and homemade chocolate cake, provide a pleasant finish that reflects the restaurant’s commitment to traditional Italian comfort food. The restaurant tends to fill up mostly in the evenings and weekends, but it’s not uncommon to find a table without a lengthy wait, making it fairly accessible for last-minute dinner plans.

Families with kids feel welcome here, and the friendly, unpretentious vibe attracts a mix of locals—ranging from couples on dates to groups of friends catching up over pizza and cocktails. If you time your visit for a Friday or Saturday night, the live music lifts the mood without overwhelming conversation, giving the place a sense of community and casual charm unique to this slice of Hermosa Beach.

What a great find! Complimentary warm bread with olive oil starter. Very generous Italian salad. FABULOUS linguine with fresh clams. Very good fish special. And the Spumoni and pistachio cake were exceptional. Can't wait to go back. Service was great.

I love this local Italian restaurant. Monica, Tony, Angel and Karen are wonderful and the pastas are homemade and delicious. Good service and cocktails. Reasonably priced. Big portions. Yummy hot bread and olive tempenade to dip it in. Also live music on Friday and Saturdays old school Sinatra with John. We go at least once a week. Love this place!

Been here multiple times. Love the broccoli rabe sausage pasta dish! Wine selection could be better but $6 happy hour wine always tastes good! Good for kids and always has an old guy singing. Which is a nice touch. Usually no wait believe it or not.

I shouldn't even write this review... too many people will discover this gem and overrun it! Starting with the food, every time I've eaten here, the quality and consistency have been superb. I hate it when I eat somewhere once, have a great meal, but when I go back it's like a different restaurant. Not at this place! The quality, the presentation and portions have been amazing every time. The salmon salad pictured is the best In SoCal. The fresh gnocchi cannot be beat. Next, the service... the staff is well trained, attentive and timely. I have never had to flag someone down to place an order, get more bread, a drink or the check. One of the reasons for that is amazing , hard working managers, like Tony! Anytime you see a manager on the floor working as hard to support the wait staff, I know it'll be a good service experience. Lastly, cost vs value, Spumoni can hardly be beat. Portion size is definitely 2 meals worth and with every penny they charge. Which is why I'm not going to mention their happy hour deal...4:30-6pm daily... which is almost absurd. You'll have to go find out for yourself!

Homemade pasta! Excellent sauces and generous portions! Small local restaurant, the decor is pretty, little touches of elegance, along with beautiful woodwork within the restaurant make it feel above average. Seating, however, was a bit cramped. Felt like I was sharing a table with the two separate families on either side of us, this was a bit awkward for me with no separation between the tables other than the small space to get into your seat. Our server was not overly friendly, but very efficient and professional. She definitely knew the menu and was helpful in choosing between two dishes for me :-) The place was very clean, and the time of day we went was perfect, just before the dinner rush! This seems to be a local staple that we somehow just never came across! Definitely not fast food, and if you're used to something like Olive garden this is going to feel like top notch! The gnocchi was absolutely wonderful with pesto sauce! I definitely recommend the food, but in the future we will be ordering takeout for a more private dining experience.

We were intending to go to an Irish pub because it was St Patrick’s Day. We failed to find an Irish pub that we liked so we went on looking for other places. Spumoni just happened to be on our view so we decided to turn right towards the parking and promptly got inside the Trattoria. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is. The only slight drawback is that it is located at the corner of two busy streets, thus the noise outside. Food is the biggest discovery. It was wonderful. Ambiance, they made the most of what they could given the location. It may seem to fall short but I still give them 5 stars for the effort of trying what they could. Oh, they have an in-house performer. That added much to help keep this place authentic and unique.

Immediately scored high on the ambience meter with live jazz music playing. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Our food was served quickly. Excellent in-house made pastas and gnocchis. Delicious flavors and seasoned to perfection. Our New York style pizza was also very good. I find Italian places in the US are so hit and miss, but Spumoni’s did not disappoint. Will eat here again on our next trip to Redondo Beach.
